Filter Fabric: Separation • Stabilization • Drainage

Filter fabric (non-woven geotextile, e.g., SRW LS3) separates soil layers, spreads loads to reduce rutting, and lets water pass while filtering fines—helping patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, and drains last longer.

What It Does

Separation: stops base rock from migrating into soft subgrade. Stabilization: spreads loads to reduce settlement and ruts. Filtration/Drainage: passes water while filtering fines. Erosion control: helps retain soils behind walls and under riprap.

Result: stronger bases, fewer callbacks, and cleaner drainage paths under pavers and gravel.

  • Unroll fabric in travel direction; keep flat and wrinkle-free.
  • Overlap seams 12–24" (more on weak soils); stagger overlaps.
  • Pin as needed or hold with initial base stone.
  • Place aggregate in lifts; compact to spec before next lift.
